News Reporter Gunned Down In Broad Daylight

SAN FRANCISCO - Longtime Oakland, Calif. journalist Chauncey Bailey was gunned down in broad daylight on a Bay Area sidewalk, police said Thursday.
The shooting happened near the corner of 14th and Alice streets near Lake Merritt on Thursday morning. Bailey was shot once in the back of the head by a masked gunman wearing all black clothing, who then fled on foot, Oakland Fire Department Capt. Melinda Drayton said.
A witness described to KPIX-TV hearing the loud boom of a single shot. Police say the weapon might have been either a shotgun or a high-powered rifle.
Police officer Roland Holmgren said he believes the suspect was looking for the victim and that the shooting was not a random act.
Bailey is survived by a 13-year-old son who lives in southern California.
Police are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
